The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is seeking a forward-thinking leader to serve as 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧, 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 (𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬).

In this 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙡𝙮 𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙚, you will work with an administrative and management team to supervise the work of the State Library of Pennsylvania and the Bureau of Library Development.

Duties include advising the Secretary of Education and the Department’s senior leadership team, influencing public policy, and directing statewide library services that support public, school, academic, and special libraries throughout Pennsylvania.

This is a 𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙦𝙪𝙚 𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 to expand access to knowledge, guide innovation, and strengthen libraries across the Commonwealth.

📍 Location: Harrisburg, PA

⏰ Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required

✨ 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:

✔️ Ten (10) years of professional library experience, including seven (7) years in a supervisory or administrative capacity within an academic, public, school, or special library, or professional library organization 𝐀𝐍𝐃

✔️ A Master’s or fifth-year degree in Library Science from a U.S. Department of Education–approved or ALA-accredited program 𝐎𝐑

✔️ Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience.

🌟 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:

• Residency in Pennsylvania or willingness to relocate upon hire

• Submission of a resume or curriculum vitae and a letter of interest

• Ability to perform essential job functions
