PA State budget - done, AND good news!
Good news!
Today the PA state budget passed both the House and the Senate! Even better, there is a $5 million dollar increase in the public library subsidy! And, there is even an increase of $433,000 in the line for library services for the visually impaired and disabled (LAMP).
This has been a long time coming – and I want to emphasize that every legislator had to be a part of this process as well as the Governor (who is expected to sign this).
So, for those who reached out to their legislators (often multiple times!), to those who shared our overdue letter and our legislative ask, for those who have worked to build relationships with elected officials, and our members for staying tuned in, please accept my thanks. Advocacy takes ALL of us!
Now, please extend thanks to our legislators! All of them for getting the budget done – AND for the increase. Tell them it matters, and that every bit helps!

I’d like to add my thanks to the Legislative Committee and Greenlee Partners for their dedicated work to contact all of the Appropriations Committee members and key legislators throughout this process.
